Overview
An extremely useful inside forward who was signed from Shettleston Juniors just before the commencement of the 1912-13 season. Didn't score many goals but he laid a few on for colleagues. At the end of the season he was transferred to South Shields much to the dismay of the Accies faithful.
He returned to play for the club again in a charity match at Fir Park in May 1915, which Accies won 2-0, with a view to coming back for the new season. That never happened.
By this time he was attached to Bradford City, whom he had joined in July 1914, and as the English matches were cancelled, Sam was reported to have signed for Bathgate along with Bobby McNeil in August 1915.
He eventually returned to Douglas Park in July 1918. After another year in the colours of Hamilton he went to Third Lanark.
Debut 21st August 1912 at Douglas Park in a Lanarkshire Cup tie v Wishaw Thistle.
Scottish League 55 Appearances 6 Goals
