DOUGALL, Robert (1929)

Overview

He was signed by Accies from the Grangemouth junior club, Forth Rangers on 5th October 1929 and on his debut the following month gave what was described as a promising display. While in the Scottish Junior League side he had shone in a match against the Irish Free State. He was born in Shieldhill, near Falkirk.

A wing half, he played many fine games for the club and it came as no surprise when the English scouts came to see him as a result of which he moved to Blackpool. This happened in September 1933, no transfer fee was disclosed. Another ex player who returned during the war, he was signed on loan from Reading FC in June 1941. His brother, Willie, was honoured by the Scottish League while with Falkirk in 1924. He later played for Burnley.

He was 5’10” and scaled at 11sts 7lbs.

Debut 16th November 1929 in a Scottish League match at home to Clyde.
