BOYD, William (1956)

Overview

Rangers signed Willie from Ashfield Juniors in 1950. He made his debut at Stirling on March 1st 1952, in a 5-1 win for Rangers, he then played in the next match against Morton and that completed his first team appearances for the Ibrox side.

In 1956 he was given a free transfer and he took a peg at Douglas Park. A half back, he scored on his debut in a league match versus Cowdenbeath. He was unable to command a regular place in Accies team and was released at the end of the season.

Willie was a chartered accountant. In 1938 he was capped 3 times for Scotland as a schoolboy. A friend of broadcaster, the late Bob Crampsey.

Debut on 18th August 1956 in a Scottish League Cup tie at home to Brechin City in a 1-1 draw.
