Overview

Played at inside right in most of his 14 appearances in season 1941-42 and was one of the newcomers that year who had a longish run in the Accies side. A good goalscorer into the bargain. It was reported at the time that had been with Chesterfield and Chelsea.

Born in Airdrie on 29th October 1916 he was on Celtic’s books before the war, though never appeared in their first team, from Parkhead he moved to Chesterfield where he remained until July 1947 when he signed for Oldham Athletic and appeared in 29 League fixtures for them prior to another move to Accrington Stanley in October 1948. He spent only a year there.

Like so many others connected with English clubs during the Second World War, he appeared as a junior, in his case he was signed by Blantyre Victoria in 1943.

Debut on 16th August 1941 in a Southern League match in which he scored.
