A former Burnbank Athletic player, he was an inside right who played in the season which marked the club’s entry into Scottish League football in 1897. Capped as a junior in 1896 against Ireland while with Burnbank.

Debut on 30th October 1897 at home to Royal Albert in a Lanarkshire Cup tie.
