CRAINIE, Chris (1944)

Overview

A back injury received in a war time fixture at Parkhead in 1944 really was the thing that ended Chris’s senior career. He came to Douglas Park from Blantyre Victoria, (whom he had signed for from Croy Emerald in August 1943) later that same year as a wing half. He was equally at home in the middle of the defence.

The back continued to be a hindrance to him and after all too short a spell at Hamilton he was reinstated to St Roch’s in 1947. He continued to perform at junior level and later turned out for Vale of Leven, St Anthony’s and Bedlay Juniors. A difficult player to pass.

Debut on 3rd January 1944 in a Southern League match at home to Heart of Midlothian.
