BARKEY, Patrick (1960)

Overview

In February 1957, he was selected to play for Lanarkshire Schools against Ayrshire. Yet another who played on the left wing, Pat scored on his league debut in 1960 at home to East Stirling in a 2-2 draw. The following season his appearances were limited to two and again he scored in one of them. He had come to Accies from Royal Albert.

He was later one of the Coaches at Douglas Park, and subsequently was appointed Assistant Manager to Davie McParland. His son, also Pat, later signed for the club. Pat senior was found dead in his home in Cambuslang in 1993, aged 50. His grandson, Kevin Barkey, was with Airdrie United in 2004.

Debut on 27th April 1960 in a Scottish League match at home to East Stirlingshire in which he scored.
