DEWAR, John (1935)

Overview

As a junior he was with Glasgow Perthshire, Royal Albert and Strathclyde before going south to Blackburn Rovers and it was from the latter club that he came to Hamilton in 1935.

A right back, he did not quite reach the heights at Douglas Park and was handed a free transfer in April 1936. He didn’t wait long to get another club as he joined Morton for the new term.

John was of average build, 5’8” and weighed 11sts 6lbs.

While at Larkhall he was said to be one of the finest full backs who had ever pulled on a jersey for Royal Albert. A keen hard tackler and a powerful kicker of the ball, fleet of foot. Gave up the game due to a recurring leg injury.

Debut on 10th April 1935 in a Scottish League match away to St Johnstone.
