Overview

A speedy right winger who had been with Strathclyde Juniors, then Forfar Athletic and Clyde before his move to Hamilton in 1956. Willie was one of a number of new faces introduced in an effort to improve the club’s fortunes. By the middle of the following season he was once again on the move in an exchange deal, with Ian Samson joining Accies from St Johnstone. He made few appearances for the Perth side.

Standing 5 ' 11", he was taller than the average wingman.

Debut on 11th August 1956 in a Scottish League Cup tie away to Alloa Athletic in a 3-1 defeat.
