Overview

At the age of 15 he appeared on a television programme about football with Charlie Nicholas. With Abronhill United as a youngster. Signed by Clyde from Kilsyth Rangers in December 1996. While at Broadwood he went on trial with Wolverhampton Wanderers in 1999. Brian was a member of the Scotland Under 21 squad that year also.

A gifted forward. His goalscoring and general play gave him the opportunity of a move to England and he decided to go to Stockport County before transferring back to Scotland with Clydebank. In 2002 he moved from Clydebank to Raith Rovers for a season, thereafter he came to Accies when Allan Maitland was in charge.

The scorer of some wonderful goals among them several fine free kicks. A player of some skill which he sometimes overdid, of course when his tricks came off they were much appreciated. Could play up front but more often on the wing.

Following a season in which he was plagued with injury he decided to move to Linlithgow Rose in June 2006. While there he won a Scottish Junior Cup medal. In January the following year it was reported that Allan Maitland was once again trying to sign him, this time for Alloa Athletic.

Prior to the commencement of season 2007-08 it was said that Accies were interested in bringing him back to Hamilton. It was reported that in his two seasons with Linlithgow he scored 66 goals, quite a return. Billy Reid did indeed bring him back and paid £15,000 to the junior club to do so.

Unable to gain a place in the first team, Brian returned to the Prestonfield club at the end of November 2008 for a reported four figure sum. Within a couple of months he was meeting up with Allan Maitland again when he went on loan to Alloa Athletic. Prior to the opening of the new season in 2010 he joined Bo’ness United.

Born on 26th September 1979.

Debut on 2nd August 2003 in a League Challenge Cup at home to St Johnstone which was lost 3-2 after extra time.
