BROWNLIE, John (1952)

Overview

John was playing with Birkenshaw Amateurs prior to joining Thorniewood United as a goalscoring centre forward. He continued to find the net on a regular basis and in so doing he was asked to join Accies, and this he did in 1951. With two other ex-juniors, Ian Rae and Tommy Todd, looking to make their name in the number 9 shirt, his opportunities were rather sparse and despite remaining on the books for almost four years he found himself back with his former junior club in 1955.

Debut on 1st January 1952 in a Scottish League fixture which was drawn 0-0 away to Albion Rovers.
