BONNAR, Martin (1997)

Overview

A diminutive midfielder, 5’ 7”, who was an X Form signing in 1997. Stan had been with Milnwood Amateurs, Mossend Boys Club and Bellshill Boys Club before coming to Accies. Not everyone’s cup of tea, but as can be seen from the figures below he was very much a regular once he got into the side. Bellshill born and bred he was a hard grafting type who did not mind mixing it. Captain of the Accies reserve side which won the Reserve League West title in 1997-98. In 1999 he was the subject of an assault in his home town and it was said that he would not play for the remainder of the season as a result.

On leaving the club in 2003 he went to Cumnock Juniors before returning to the senior grade in August 2004 for a few matches with Queen’s Park. He left Hampden in December 2004. A year later he was wearing Albion Rovers colours. His weight at that time was 10sts 7lbs.

Born on 12th January 1979.

Debut on 23rd August 1997 as a substitute in a Scottish League match at home to Raith Rovers in a 2-0 win.
