Overview

Made a promising start when he came to Hamilton from St Johnstone in December 1933.

He had played for Burnbank Athletic in the 1931 Scottish Junior Cup Final which they lost 1-0 to Denny Hibs. In May that year he was capped in a match against Wales at Llandudno for the Scotland Junior eleven in a match in which he scored. He signed for the Perth club in May 1931.

Willie was an inside right. Despite what would appear to have been a successful spell at Douglas Park he was released in 1934 whereupon he was signed by Morton. He left Cappielow in December 1937 to join King’s Park, the Stirling based side. In August 1938 he signed for Dundee United where he played in 29 League games with 15 goals in that period while in the Second Division.

Debut on 23rd December 1933 in a Scottish League fixture away to Partick Thistle.
