BARTON, Charlie (1897)

Overview

One of the first new signings when Accies entered the fray in the Scottish Second Division in 1897. He and Peter Somers were signed to play in the clubs first Scottish League game.

He was a centre half who had been with Burnbank Athletic as a junior and while there he was picked for Lanarkshire to play against the Midlothian League as was Peter Somers in March 1897. With very few games behind him for Accies he left the club. He may have returned to Burnbank at that time and it is also possible that he was later an official with them as well.

Debut in Accies first League game on 6th November 1897 at Douglas Park against Kilmarnock.
