Overview

Gerry was at Holy Cross school when Accies took him onto the books in 1975, he had also had an involvement with Celtic Boys Club and Fernhill Boys Club. He played in the front positions. Made his debut at Montrose in 1976 when he came on as a substitute. Later that same season he was a regular in the squad, this continued for about a year, and then he was dropped from the scene.

He was one of three Accies picked to play in the Professional Youth trials at Clydebank in 1976, the others were Gary McDowall and Jim Grant. Freed in 1978, he turned to the juniors with Forth Wanderers. Six years on and he was still in the junior game, when he scored one of the goals which gave Shotts Bon Accord the Tom Brown Cup.
