BLACKBURN, Bob (1904)

Overview

Bob was an outside right who joined the club from Raith Rovers in 1904. He was a regular in the side throughout the League season. A player of some experience as Accies endeavoured to retain the Second Division title that term. A pacy winger who was only at Hamilton for a year before moving to Leith Athletic. He did manage a medal in his only season at Douglas Park when Dykehead were defeated 3-0 in the Lanarkshire Cup Final at Fir Park before a crowd of 2,500.

He went to Newcastle United in 1906 and there he remained for two years with 5 first eleven outings in that time, he was part of their successful reserve side which annexed the North Eastern League Championship twice during his stay, before he returned north of the border to join Aberdeen.

In 1909 he was back in England with Grimsby Town. Stockily built, he was fast and packed a strong shot.

Bob was born in Edinburgh in 1885.

Debut on 15th August 1904 in a West of Scotland League match away to Clyde.
