BROWN, Allan (1924)

Overview

Previously with Maryhill Juniors and Clyde. A centre forward signed during the close season in 1924. He had been impressive when he played against Accies, so it was regarded as a good signing by the Douglas Park support. He scored regularly for the team, mainly with single goals in his first season when his tally was 15 goals.

When season 1925-26 commenced he found his scoring touch had almost deserted him and he lost his place in the side. By the end of the year he was transferred to Raith Rovers. The Kirkcaldy club freed him in November 1926. By season 1931-32 he was appearing in the South of Scotland League with Stranraer and while there he was reckoned to be possibly the greatest character who ever played for the Wigtownshire side.

Debut on 16th August 1924 in a Scottish League game versus St Johnstone in which he scored.
