DONALD, David (1922)
Overview
A red haired winger with pace and clever skills was how he was described in the local press when he came to Douglas Park in 1922.
A Coatbridge lad, he was born there on 29th December, 1878, he had played senior football with Albion Rovers, Bradford Park Avenue, Derby County, Chesterfield Town, Watford and Queen’s Park Rangers before returning to Scotland. His longest spell south of the border was with QPR, going there in 1914 and leaving them in 1922, though he did not play for them in the war years, he still managed a respectable 97 League outings and 9 goals.
He died in Derby on January 19th 1932, a comparatively young man.
Debut on 15th August 1922 versus St Mirren at Love Street where he scored in a 2-1 defeat for Accies.
