BOYD, Francis (1954)

Overview

Showed great promise as a youngster and was signed by his home town team, Kilmarnock initially in May 1947 from Glenfield Welfare. He was then allowed to go on loan to St Cuthbert's Wanderers and Newton Stewart before returning to Rugby Park in May of 1950. Made a handful of appearances before he moved to Stranraer in August 1952.

Jackie Cox signed him for Accies in June 1954 and he went on to play many fine games wearing the number 5 shirt, none more so than during the Scottish Cup run of 1955. He left the club in May 1956 for Australia. He had been a bargain signing from Stranraer at £250. Born in Kilmarnock in 1929.

Debut on 14th August 1954 in a Scottish League Cup at home to Forfar Athletic in a 2-0 win.
