YOUNG, Archibald (1923)
Overview
Manger Scott Duncan signed him in July 1923 after he had been freed by Hibernian where he had spent three seasons, having been on Armadale’s books previously. In his first two games, the pre-season trial and a Lanarkshire tie, he scored 7 goals. However he was unable to continue that rate and by October he had returned to Edinburgh to join St Bernard’s. A centre forward, he originally played in the Kilmarnock area. He went on to qualify as a doctor.
Born in Barrhead, Archie measured 5’7” and weighed 11sts 5lbs.
Debut on 14th August 1923 at home to Hamilton Garrison in the Lanarkshire Cup in which he scored a hat trick in a 7-0 win.
