Accies 0, Morton 0: Saturday, 12 December 1998

This was the day when Accies cut the admission price to only £5.00 for adults and £2.00 for youths and OAPs. Even at that price, the fans didn't get value for money.

I would struggle to pick out match highlights for a proper report. Apart from a long range shot from Chris Hillcoat which clipped the top of the bar, a first half header from Tommy Tait and a second half shot from Eddie Cunnington which were both saved superbly by Ally Maxwell in the Morton goal, there wasn't much to enjoy. The only worthwhile efforts from Morton were on the breakaway and they made a complete hash of them.

Accies fielded Derek McGill up front, who had been signed on a short term contract afhter being released by Port Vale. Both he and Michael Geraghty struggled to create any impression, but this was mainly due to a woeful performance by the midfield who couldn't string any passes together. The defence was reasonable, although if Colin Miller was simply the new left back and not the manager I'm sure he wouldn't get a game. Colin should reconsider his decision to play - he looks better in a suit.

Unfortunately, Raith Rovers won at Ayr and are closing the gap on us. If results don't improve very soon, we're a gonner for sure.

Accies : McFarlane, Renicks, Miller, Berry, Cunnington, Hillcoat, Thomson, Tait, Geraghty, McGill and D Henderson.
