Accies Career

Overview

A former Glasgow University and Partick Thistle goalkeeper who stood in when Accies were in need of an experienced netminder for a month during the 1967-68 campaign. He was capped as an amateur three times while with the Uni' team in 1958. Just prior to his short stay at Douglas Park he had obliged Albion Rovers in similar fashion. He played for the Scottish Schoolboys Under 18 side versus England in 1956 while at Kilsyth Academy.

In his youth he was an all round sportsman, he was one of Britain’s top decathlon performers. He was fifth in 1958 British Championships. He was re-instated as an amateur athlete and only stopped regular competition in 2005 at the age of 67. He was employed as a roads engineer in Stirling for 32 years.

Debut on 7th October 1967 away to St Mirren in a Scottish League match which was lost 3-1.
