HEPPINSTALL, Frank (1913)

Overview

Frank was a small outside left who was born round about 1885 at South Hiendly, near Barnsley, where he played for a local side by the name of Felkirk. He then moved to Denaby United before he was signed by Barnsley. His next club was Swindon Town and it was from there that he was taken to London following his signing for Arsenal in May 1909. His league appearances while at Highbury totalled 23 with no goals.

At the end of season 1910-11 he left for Stalybridge Celtic and it was from there in May 1913 he came to Douglas Park with a Celtic team-mate, Alf Smith. Frank was a bit of a speed merchant in his day.

He was 5’6” and weighed in at 11sts 6lbs.

Debut on 13th August 1913 in a Friendly at home to Burnbank Athletic.
