Overview

A Ghanaian Internationalist with 4 caps, who came to Hamilton in March 2009.

In his early days he appeared with Hampton and Richmond a pro-amateur club before joining Northampton Town for a short time, from there he moved to Mansfield Town, then Lincoln City. He then went on loan to Chester and he scored 9 goals from 18 matched which helped to save the club from relegation.

In July 2006 he trialled with Doncaster Rovers and Scunthorpe United while the following month he signed for Shrewsbury Town. Without the proper paperwork being completed he moved to OGC Nice for a fee reported to be £50,000.

During the next eighteen months he did not play, however in 2009 he was reported to be training with Yeovil Town and soon afterwards he came to Hamilton. He is a forward and on his debut he looked to be a good acquisition to the squad despite only being on the field as a substitute. A stockily built individual with a good turn of pace, who could play as a striker or winger.

Derek was freed by Accies at the end of May 2009 and the following August he had signed a contract with Bulgarian club, Locomotiv Sofia.

In November 2010, Derek signed with South Korean side Pohang Steelers.

Born on 1st May 1981.

Debut as a substitute on 4th April 2009 in a Premier League match away to Celtic which was lost 4-0.
