HUSBAND, Willie (1914)

Overview

A July 1914 signing from Burnley. He moved from Kilmarnock Celtic to St Mirren, spent three seasons there before going on loan to Burnley in 1912.

In a League match at Cathkin, he scored direct from a corner kick, however it was disallowed as no one else had touched the ball. The match was eventually abandoned due to fog with only 6 minutes to go with Accies 3-2 ahead. They won the match when it was replayed. In his first season at Douglas Park he missed only three first team matches. An outside left.

He was suspended sine die by the club in 1916, he appealed to the SFA, and he lost on 11th April 1916. A native of Kilmarnock.

At 24 years old, he stood 5'10" and scaled at 11sts 7lbs.

Debut on 15th August 1914 in a Scottish League match away to Rangers.
