Overview

Played in the final match of the 1957-58 season against Stirling Albion at Douglas Park at centre half. He was a Burnbank Swifts player at the time. Billy was signed by Rangers in 1958, they in turn passed him to Coltness United to gain experience.

On leaving Ibrox he then went to England in August 1961 to join Rotherham. The following year he moved to Brighton where he remained for four seasons, with over a century of league appearances for the "Gulls" behind him.

He also played in America with the Detroit Cougars before returning to England and spent a season with Cambridge United.

He was born in Hamilton on 4th October 1940.

Debut on 30th April 1958 in a Scottish League fixture versus Stirling Albion at home which was lost 5-3.

(NOTE: There is a possibility that this Billy Cassidy and the Accies player of 1968 are one and the same person)
