Overview

A Coatbridge lad he was signed by Albion Rovers in 1923 from a local amateur side. He was allowed to leave Cliftonhill and he joined Mid-Annandale. However he rejoined the Wee Rovers for the commencement of season 1924-25 and played in the opening match against Clyde at Shawfield. In January 1925 he was transferred to Queen of the South.

He came to Douglas Park in time for the start of season 1928-29 and missed only 4 matches, League and Scottish Cup all season. That was to his only season at Hamilton.

Despite being almost an ever present he left the club in the 1929 close season to join Gillingham. On his debut, despite losing four goals, he was reported as being beyond criticism. He later moved to Brentford and at the close of the 1932-33 season he was given a free transfer by the London club.

When Accies played as Mid-Annandale in the Southern Counties Cup in 1935 he was in goal for Nithsdale Wanderers in the Semi Final at Dumfries.

Had the right build for his position, goalkeeper, as he was 6’ and carried 12sts 7lbs.

Debut on 11th August 1928 in a Scottish League match at home to Third Lanark.
