AYRES, Tom (1898)

Overview

When he first appeared for the side he looked as if he was going to be a fixture for some time, however it was not to be and he turned out no later than the middle of November in 1898. He was capped for Junior Scotland in 1895 against Ireland while with Dalziel Rovers at full back.

Also played as a junior with Mossend Brigade, while based there he appeared for the Lanarkshire Junior League when that eleven met the Lanarkshire Alliance League in 1894 and played against Accies on January 2nd 1897 for Newcastle United Reserves.

Debut on 20th August 1898 at home to Morton in a Scottish League match.
