MANSLEY, Cliff (1942)

Overview

A Yorkshireman, Stockton born on 5th April 1921. A Preston North End wing half who helped out during the war. He was released by Dumbarton in November 1944.

One of the few war time transfers, he moved from Deepdale to Barnsley. Prior to that he had guested with Carlisle United, Blackburn Rovers, and Burnley. Another move came in June 1948 when he signed for Chester where he played for them on 22 occasions. A spell with non-league, Yeovil Town followed and then in July 1952 he reappeared with Orient in the English League. Proved to be a useful player in his period at Douglas Park.

Debut on 29th August 1942 in a home Southern League match versus Falkirk.
