Accies Career

Overview

Accies most famous centre forward, Davie Wilson, was an Englishman. Peter had similar qualifications, and while he was at the club he was a first class marksman. He was signed by Middlesbrough in 1986 and then played for Sheffield United, Halifax Town on loan, then Rotherham United, Blackpool, Crewe Alexandra and Stockport County all on loan then back to Sheffield United.

Iain Munro purchased him from the steel town side for a reported fee of £30,000. This proved to be an excellent piece of work, as in the two years that he turned out for the club, Peter was the top scorer in the First Division. He moved to our Lanarkshire rivals, Airdrieonians during the 1995 close season. Accies financial assessment varied greatly from that of his new club and the decision was made by a tribunal. The fee was fixed at £135,000, considerably less than Accies value of the player. All this took the gloss from his goalscoring feats for the club. He was only 5' 6", but this was not a problem to him as he was particularly quick around the goal area. With Accies he won many "Man of the Match" awards and was the Supporters Player of the Year.

In March 1996, he was on the go again, when he was transferred to Raith Rovers. November 1997 came with him moving to Morton. In 1998 he joined Falkirk from Morton. In January 1999 he went on loan to Darlington for three months from Brockville and his scoring boots seemed to working once again.

At the commencement of the 2001 season he was playing with York City following a lengthy spell out injured. He was on the move again to Boston United where he scored 9 goals in 43 League outings. On his debut for his next employers, Carlisle United, he scored the only goal of the match at home to Hartlepool United on 9th March 2004. The Brunton Park club were relegated to the Conference League at the end of the season.

Season 2004-05 came with him wearing the colours of English Non-League outfit, Alfreton Town, from Nottinghamshire. Two seasons later he was Player/Assistant Manager with Non-League Retford Town in Nottinghamshire. In 2007 he became Manager and his new charges won their respective League title that year. On leaving Hamilton, Peter never quite showed the same form as he did with Accies.

Born in Middlesbrough on 4th February 1969.
