Overview

Glossop born in 1883. Previously on the books at Manchester City before he came to Hamilton in 1919. In his nine seasons with City he played in 195 League matches and hit the net 92 times. While at Maine Road he was capped against Wales in 1907. He recommended a couple of ex-colleagues from his days with South Shields to the club. He was a centre forward.

In a match at Douglas Park against Raith Rovers he netted all five goals in a 5-5 draw. Accies were 5-1 ahead at half time. An injury near the end of the season limited his appearances. He later joined Houghton Rovers. When he returned south he had in his possession a Lanarkshire Cup winners medal earned when he scored one of two goals which gave Accies the trophy in 1920.

His career had commenced with Gainley Swifts, from there he played for Glossop Villa, Glossop St James before going to Maine Road. An all round sportsman as he was competent at cricket and billiards. A butcher by trade. A resident of South Shields at the time of his death on 24th April 1955.
