BARRINGTON, Jimmy (1922)

Overview

Yet another of David Buchanan’s 1922 newcomers to Douglas Park. Only 21 , he stood 5’9” and was 11sts 7lbs. He had been spotted playing with the Lancashire Combination club, Wigan United by Bradford City officials and he moved there. It was from Yorkshire that he came to Hamilton. A left back.

Strangely enough his best match for Accies was reckoned to be in the final League game of 1922-23 against Alloa Athletic which Accies had to win to be sure of avoiding relegation. They won 2-0. This was his last outing for the club.

His next club was Wigan Borough with whom he appeared 59 times with 1 goal to his name. In 1929 he joined Nottingham Forest and he made 211 appearnces for them until 1936. Born at Little Ince on 15th November 1901, his death was recorded in 1968.

Debut on 19th August 1922 in a 1-0 home defeat at the hands of Airdrieonians.
