Accies Career

Overview

Another young man who made the grade via Bishopbriggs Youth Club. Tom was a winger, and made his debut in the opening match of the 1981-82 season. He spent three years at Douglas Park and while there he played in most of the front positions.

He sustained a bad injury while with the club and it looked as if he might have to give up the game. He tried again at Falkirk before deciding to retire. He later came back as a junior with Vale of Clyde. He also turned out for Pollok in 1990, Cambuslang Rangers in 1993 and Baillieston in 1994 while two years later he was back with Vale of Clyde before once again finding himself a free agent. At the start of the 1997-98 season he was with Kirkintilloch Rob Roy.

The start of season 2000-01 saw him assisting Danny Diver and Charlie Speirs at Greenfield Park with Shettleston Juniors. He looked to have bright future before him prior to his injury. He had also turned out for Blantyre Celtic twice before he came to Accies. In 2007 he was with Partick Thistle.

His brother, John, played for Dumbarton, Motherwell, Rangers, Partick Thistle, Leeds United, Dunfermline and Stranraer, while his nephew Simon was with Celtic before going to England. A real footballing family.

Born in Glasgow on 19th December 1962.

Debut on 2nd August 1981 as a substitute in a Lanarkshire Cup tie away to Airdrieonians which Accies won 4-2.
