HANNAH, George (1919)

Overview

Was due to make his first team debut at Ibrox following his signing from Loanhead Mayflower in December 1919, however it was put back for a week. An outside left who was given an extended run in the team.

One of his outings was in the Lanarkshire Cup Final of 1920 and he collected a winners medal against Albion Rovers, the following year the two sides again contested the ultimate tie and the Coatbridge side were the victors, so George had to be content as a runner up.

Two years after joining Accies he returned to the east of Scotland and joined Cowdenbeath. His next club was Broxburn United, joining them a year later. Jimmy Brownlie then took him to Dundee Hibernian in June 1923 and while he was there the club changed its name to Dundee United. He made less than a dozen League appearances for the Tayside club.

George was Loanhead born and in his playing days he was 5’7” tall and weighed a sturdy 12sts.

Debut at Douglas Park versus Clyde in a 2-2 game on 27th December 1919.
