Overview

A centre half from Strathclyde Juniors. With Jimmy McStay’s first team appearances nearing their end, Davie was being groomed to fill his boots. His height at 5’11” was a decided asset for the role. He didn’t make it and John Lowe was played there instead.

Davie was freed in May 1938 when he refused the resigning terms offered by the club. Joined Morton in the 1938 close season and three years later he was still wearing their colours. Hailed from Burnbank, his brother Ned, played with Clyde. During the war Davie served in the Tank Corps.

Debut on 24th August 1936 in a Lanarkshire Cup tie away to Airdrieonians.
