HAY, William (1939)

Overview

Appeared in the 1939 pre-season trial at right half and so impressed Manager Willie McAndrew that he was signed. He had been with Benburb and Leicester City previously. Another who lost out due to the war years. He did sign for Burnbank Athletic in August 1943 as an inside right. He was their captain in 1945 when they defeated Cambuslang Rangers in the Scottish Cup Final, when he was at right half.

Debut on 26th August 1939 in a Scottish League match at home to Falkirk.
