McBAIN, Dougie (1945)

Overview

Amateur player who turned out at wing half, where he performed for Queen of the South earlier during the war period. Did well while wearing Accies colours.

He was a nephew of Accies Director, James McBain and he had played with Blantyre Engineering Company then turned senior with Dumbarton. The week after his Accies debut he was due to play for Rangers in a North Eastern League match against Aberdeen.

He was a Gunner in the RAF.

Debut on 14th January 1945 in a Southern League match away to Albion Rovers.
