TELFORD, John (1940)

Overview

Came to Douglas Park in December 1939 on loan from Clyde when John Lowe took ill. He was a centre half and returned to Shawfield when the emergency was over and John came back into his place. In 1937 John moved from Maryhill Juniors to Arthurlie and it from there that he went to Shawfield at the close of the 1937-38 season.

He joined the Forces during the Second World War and when hostilities ceased he applied for reinstatement to the juniors and he rejoined Arthurlie in 1946.

Debut on 1st January 1940 in a Western League match at Motherwell.
