KILDAY, Hugh (1902)

Overview

Signed from Dalry Thistle in December 1901, he was a left half who eventually took over from Sandy Cowan. Hugh played many games at right half as well. Hugh appeared many times for the club when not so many League games were played.

When Accies won the Second Division title in season 1903-04 it was due in no small thanks to the excellent half back trio of Kilday, McIntyre and Cowan. That same season saw Accies meet Airdrieonians in the Final of the Lanarkshire Cup at Fir Park in front of 10,000 and Hugh was on the losing side. The following season he fared better when Dykehead were the beaten side against Hamilton. When Sandy Cowan retired, Hugh moved over to the left half berth and continued to serve the club well until 1907.

On 1st November 1907 he was transferred from Bathgate to Belfast Distillery.

Debut on 4th January 1902 in a Scottish League match at home to Abercorn.
