Accies Career

Overview

When Danny Ferguson was transferred to Hearts in 1958, Accies turned yet again to the juniors for a suitable replacement. The job was given to Willie, a red head, whose performances with Stonehouse Violet merited him being given the chance to fill the number two spot. He held the position until early in the new season when he played his last game for the club in a 3-2 win at East Stirlingshire.

On being released he signed for his home town team, Royal Albert, and went on to give them excellent service, and while there he was chosen to play for the Lanarkshire Junior League in a match against the Leinster Senior League in 1962.

Debut on 13th December 1958 in a Scottish League match at home to St Johnstone which was lost 1-0.
