McGETTIGAN, Neil (1906)

Overview

Neil was signed from Edinburgh based, St Bernard’s in time for the start of the 1906-07 season. In the pre-season trial on 13th August he scored for what was reckoned to be the side which would start the season for Accies. He was an inside left who started the campaign promisingly but his form was not maintained and he was soon out of the side. He actually scored Accies first ever goal in the First Division following their admittance to that level.

He appealed to the Scottish League for wages which he said the club were due him when he left Douglas Park, but it was in vain.

One of four Accies players who went on loan to Girvan Athletic in March 1907.

Debut on 15th August 1906 in a Scottish League fixture away to Clyde.
