JONES, Jacky (1943)

Overview

Jacky was a free scoring centre forward and he was one of the reasons why Blantyre Victoria reached the Scottish Junior Cup Final in 1944 which they lost 1-0. He, along with Willie McCall and Chris Crainie, played their first games for the club as trialists, as a result all three were signed. Jacky led the line well and had a fairly good record in a side which struggled.

The Blantyre club signed him from Rutherglen Munro in the 1943-44 close season. After the war he turned out for Stranraer.

Debut on 3rd January 1943 in a Southern League fixture at home to Heart of Midlothian.
