BARRACLOUGH, Billy (1942)

Overview

Turned out at outside left in consecutive games for Accies during the Second World War. Possibly in the forces and may have been stationed locally at that time. When Accies played Hull City in a Friendly in 1928, their outside left was Billy Barraclough.

He had commenced his career with Bridlington Town, then moved to Hull City in 1927. He then spent a very successful six years with Wolverhampton Wanderers before in 1936 joining Chelsea until 1938. While there he also appeared, probably on loan, with Colchester United then moved to Doncaster Rovers just before the war. Born at Hull on 3rd January 1909. His death took place in 1969.

Debut on 19th September 1942 in a Southern League match away to Queen’s Park.
