Accies Career
Overview
As a youngster in Belfast he played for St Andrews FC before signing for Glentoran. His play attracted further attention and he joined Motherwell in 2000 and during his time there he received the first of 36 International caps (and scoring 4 goals) in the process for Northern Ireland, his debut came against Malta.
Stuart was an important team member at Fir Park as a goalscoring forward and when the team was broken up following administration in 2002, he joined Hull City for a fee of £230,000. He was their top scorer in season 2003-04. The next term was even better as he netted 27 goals and was awarded the Golden Boot along with former Aberdeen player, Dean Windass.
His appearances grew less and in January 2008 he went to Doncaster Rovers on loan. On July 1st that year he signed a two year deal with the club. Twelve months later he was out on loan again, this time with Grimsby Town. Doncaster released him on 1st January 2010 and Billy Reid brought him to New Douglas Park.
On his debut he was an important member of the side which held Rangers to a draw despite being two goals down in 20 minutes. During the match he demonstrated his willingness to shoot on several occasions. Before turning full-time he worked as a window cleaner. In February 2010 he joined Stirling Albion for a month as an emergency loan. He was freed by Accies in August 2010.
