Overview
Chosen by the Lanarkshire League to play at centre half against the Irish League in late 1902, he was signed from Burnbank Athletic, on 3rd February 1903, with whom he had picked up a Scottish Junior Cup Winners medal in 1901 against Maryhill at the Exhibition Grounds in Glasgow. He played at centre half on that occasion.
On his Hamilton debut he was played at centre half which he occupied a number of times for Accies but it was as a wing half that he appeared most times for the club. A strong player who was not able to hold down a regular place in the side due to the play of Hugh Kilday and Sandy Cowan at the time. A good man to have available because of his versatility. One of six Accies players who were in receipt of Lanarkshire Cup winners medals in 1905 and 1906. He was a runner up in 1903.
Debut in a Scottish Cup tie away to Third Lanark on 7th February 1903. The match was abandoned and played as a friendly.
