Livingston 0 Accies 1: Friday 13 October 2006

A solo goal by Mark Gilhaney just before half time gave Accies a well deserved win at Almondvale on Friday night. Hamilton held on for a priceless victory at Almondvale on Friday 13th, but there was no luck (good or otherwise) involved.

Hamilton took the lead a minute ahead of the break when James McArthur sent Mark Gilhaney through on goal and he drew 'keeper Colin Stewart before calmly clipping the ball over him and into the empty net. In truth Accies coiuld have been 3 or 4 nothing up by then, passing up several gilt edged chances in a busy first half.

In 13 minutes, Derek Fleming's low cross from the left was missed by Dave MacKay, letting David Winters in at the back post, but Stewart reacted superbly to block his drive with the ball flying over. 5 Minutes later, McArthur sent Richard Offiong through but Stewart again blocked brilliantly, with MacKay hacking clear.

McArthur was in the mood and in 34 minutes his cross from the right was headed just past the back post by Offiong. Offing turned provider in 37 minutes after good work down the right by Tom Parratt, but his chipped cross was inches out of reach of McArthur, who was sliding in at the back post.

Livi were full of purpose in the second half, but it was more perspiration than inspiration. In 66 minutes, Jason Thomson's cross/shot was palmed away from the top right hand corner by Raymond Jellema. Livi became more agitated towards the end but Jellema again superbly palmed out a Thomson header at the right post.

Hamilton in the end thoroughly deserved all three points against a Livingston side with genuine title aspirations. Another win over Clyde on Tuesday should see Accies climb the table.
