KYLE, Archie (1914)

Overview

An experienced campaigner having previously served Rangers and St Mirren. Signed in January of 1914 along with Jamie Stewart following a heavy Accies defeat at Aberdeen the week before, and he gave many excellent displays at inside left during his time at Douglas Park, not only in providing opportunities for those around him but he also was a goalscorer himself. One of the 4 Accies men picked for the Lanarkshire v Glasgow game in May 1916.

While a Ranger he was chosen to play against the English League in 1906 and 1908 having previously been chosen to appear for the Home Scots versus the Anglo Scots on 19th March 1906 in a no scoring draw at Cathkin Park. Other clubs he played for were Blackburn Rovers, Bo’ness and Clyde, he was signed by the latter from Parkhead Juniors in September 1910. A Junior Internationalist.

Alleged to be involved in a bribery case in 1931 involving an Accies v Leith Athletic match at Hamilton.

Debut 31st January 1914 in a Scottish League match away to Clyde in which he scored the only two goals of the game.
