Overview

Hull City was his club while he had his few outings for Accies during the war years. He lost 13 goals in his two games, so he was hardly a success. Maybe it was due to inexperience as the Hull figures would appear to mark him as a competent keeper.

It was said after his first match for Hamilton that he was not given much help from his defence. Accies won 6-5. Turned out with Lincoln City also during hostilities. He was Newcastle born on 15th May 1920 and on his return to Hull after the war he continued to play for them until 1959 amassing a total of 394 appearances.

He had been with Walker Celtic prior to joining Hull and when he was released in 1959 he went to Weymouth. Died in 1982.

Debut 20th November 1943 in a Southern League match away to Heart of Midlothian.
