Accies Career

Overview

When Andy Paton retired to move into the Manager’s office at Douglas Park, he had to find a replacement centre half and Jim was the answer he came up with. He had previously been with Airdrieonians, signed by them in September 1957 from Bellshill Athletic, and stayed with Accies for two seasons, leaving in 1961. In that time he only missed two league matches and it came as a surprise when he was allowed to move on, which he did to Stranraer, where he remained until 1966, whereupon he went to Stenhousemuir.

A very dependable figure in the heart of the defence. He was a joiner by trade.

Jim died on 4th October 2009 at the age of 75 in the Isle of Arran.

Debut on 8th August 1959 in a Scottish League Cup tie at Falkirk which Accies lost by 3-2.
