CULLEN, James (1920)

Overview

A 24 year old centre forward who came to Hamilton in 1920 from Vale of Clyde. Compactly built at 5’8” and 11sts. He had had previous senior experience as a Morton player.

On 29th September 1920 in a Benefit Match for Alex Purdie between a Lanarkshire Select and a similar side from Glasgow he scored 4 goals in a 5-2 win for the County side. Never quite made it at Douglas Park and he was allowed to leave the club. Following spells with Third Lanark and Armadale he joined Dykehead in September 1925.

Debut in a Friendly at home to Airdrieonians on 14th August which ended 0-0.
